Omolara Olusola OLUWANIYI (nee Akinremi) is a Professor of Industrial Chemistry, University of Ilorin. She was one of the pioneering members of staff of the Department of Industrial Chemistry at its creation from the Department of Chemistry in 2013. Her university education was at the University of Ilorin where she obtained the B.Sc. (Hons) Industrial Chemistry (1991); M.Sc. Chemistry (1997) and Ph.D. Chemistry (2008). She began her academic career as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Science Laboratory Technology, Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, in 1993, and later joined the University of Ilorin as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Chemistry on 30th September 1998. She became a Professor in the Department of Industrial Chemistry in 2017, becoming the first female professor in the Faculty of Physical Sciences, University of Ilorin. Professor Omolara Olusola Oluwaniyi is a fellow of the Chemical Society of Nigeria (FCSN), member of the Organization for Women in Science for the Developing world (OWSD) and the Science Association of Nigeria (SAN).

Professor Oluwaniyi has been involved in teaching and research in the University for more than 25 years. Her area of research is Organic Chemistry in general, with special interest in Medicinal and Natural Products, Food and Nutraceutical Chemistry. Professor Oluwaniyi is a highly resourceful and prolific researcher, with the outcomes of her research published in several national and international journals of high impact. She has supervised and is still supervising more than 100 B.Sc., 20 M.Sc. and 5 Ph.D. research projects and is a mentor to many upcoming academics, especially of the female folk, both within and outside the University of Ilorin.

Professor Oluwaniyi has served (and still serving) in various capacities at the departmental, faculty and university levels. She was once the Head of Department of Industrial Chemistry and the immediate past Director of Quality Assurance of the University of Ilorin.

Professor Omolara Oluwaniyi is happily married, and the marriage is blessed with children.
