Professor Benedict Iserom Ngwu-Itekung Iserom (Formally known as Professor Benedict Iserom Ita)

(Born April 10, 1967) is a distinguished Nigerian academic and current Coordinator of Water Resources Capacity Building Network South-South Zone, Nigeria.

Born in Aningeje, Akamkpa LGA, Cross River State, his academic journey began at Presbyterian Primary School, Akim Qua Town, before he attended Immaculate Conception Seminary, Mfamosing. He then earned B.Sc. Hons (1989), M.Sc. (1994), and Ph.D. (2000) in Physical Chemistry from the University of Calabar, Calabar, Nigeria.

Professor Iserom began his career as a Graduate Assistant in 1990, rising to full Professor of Chemistry specializing in Physical chemistry, Theoretical Chemistry and Mathematical Chenistry in 2010. A prolific scholar, his research spans group theoretic analysis, solving quantum mechanical equations, nanoscopic materials and corrosion of metals, supported by 180 journal articles and several textbooks. He has served the University of Calabar in various leadership roles, including Head of Department, Pioneer Dean of Physical Sciences, Chairman Committee of Deans and a brief stint as Acting Vice-Chancellor. He was also appointed Vice-Chancellor of Arthur Jarvis University on October 2, 2023 a position he held for 6 months.

A devout Christian, Knight of St. Mulumba, an Oblate of St. Benedict, and married with children, he remains dedicated to advancing chemical science and academic leadership in Nigeria.
